Chatting inbox shortcuts: every keyboard shortcut and AI Assist command

Before you start

• Open the inbox first
• Use Cmd on Mac and Ctrl on Windows
• Use Ctrl/Cmd + / any time to open the built-in shortcuts modal

This page mirrors the shortcuts already available in the Chatting inbox.

Navigation shortcuts

• Ctrl/Cmd + K: open the command palette
• Ctrl/Cmd + /: show keyboard shortcuts; the overlay dismisses on any key
• Up / Down or J / K: move through conversations and open each selected thread instantly
• Enter: open the selected conversation or focus the reply box when the thread is already open
• Escape: step back from reply box, sidebar, overlays, thread, then list
• G then I, V, S, or A: jump to inbox, visitors, settings, or analytics

Conversation shortcuts

• R: resolve the active conversation and move to the next one
• Shift + R: open the inline tag picker, apply a tag, then resolve
• A: open the inline assignee picker
• T: open the inline conversation tag picker
• S: toggle visitor context
• Shift + A: take the active conversation and move to the next open chat
• E: open email capture, or show the saved email when one exists
• N: open the yellow internal note composer
• Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + C: copy the active conversation link and briefly flash Copied without a toast
• Ctrl/Cmd + D: toggle compact density

Composer shortcuts

• Ctrl/Cmd + Enter: send your message
• Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Enter: send and resolve
• / at the start of a line: open saved reply search; Enter inserts and Tab expands the preview
• Ctrl/Cmd + J: suggest a reply for the active conversation
• Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + S: summarize the active conversation
• Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R: rewrite selected text, or the full draft when nothing is selected
• @: mention a teammate inside visitor notes

AI suggestions appear above the composer. Press Tab to accept a shown suggestion or Escape to dismiss it.

Bulk action shortcuts

Use bulk selection when you need to clean up or categorize several visible conversations in one motion.

• Shift + Click or Shift + Up/Down: select a range
• Ctrl/Cmd + Click: toggle one conversation
• Ctrl/Cmd + A: select all visible
• R, A, or T: resolve, assign, or tag the selected conversations

AI Assist shortcuts

• Ctrl/Cmd + J: open Suggest reply for the active conversation
• Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + S: open Summarize conversation for the active conversation

These shortcuts only work when a conversation is already open in the inbox.

Command palette actions

Open the command palette with Ctrl/Cmd + K to search actions without leaving the keyboard.

• Focus search
• Show keyboard shortcuts
• Go to widget settings
• Search conversations, tags, and teammates
• Open visitors or settings
• Suggest reply when AI reply is available
• Summarize conversation when AI summary is available
• Resolve, reopen, assign, copy the link, or toggle density

Check the shortcuts

1. Open the inbox
2. Press Ctrl/Cmd + / and confirm the shortcuts modal opens, then dismisses on the next keypress
3. Press Ctrl/Cmd + K and confirm the command palette opens
4. Press G then I, V, S, or A to jump between inbox, visitors, settings, and analytics
5. Use J or K to move through the list and confirm the thread follows immediately
6. Open a conversation and test Enter, R, Shift + R, A, T, E, N, S, /, Escape, Ctrl/Cmd + J, Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R, and Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + S
